Training began by reading maps and an overview of the territory covered by the 1245 unit. This training was followed by instructions on what to wear and what is useful to bring on patrol.

Then, the training continued with a review of 1245, all of its equipment and the use of the checklist before starting a mission. Leaving the marina to see the handeling of the boat, a practice of a "man overboard" and recovery of a victim in the water, Robin playing the role of victim.
